Village Scenes - Palm trees near the village

Palmyra Palm trees.
Palmyra tree's leaves were used in ancient India as a writing
material, like paper. It's young seeds are eatable, tasty, looks
like jelly and contains water in the center. When we were
young, we roasted the fruits and ate them.

Fragrant Rose Flowers

Rose flowers from the plant in our house. These red
flowers have nice fragrance. There are over 100 species in
rose plants. The dried petals of a particular type of roses are
used in cooking as a flavoring agent.

produce this effect.

Tips: We use natural preparations to ward off pests. Take
peppers and few gloves of garlic and grind them with water.
We may add some good quality onion. Leave this solution
for sometime and strain this solution using a cloth. Use this
solution to spray the plants.

Custard Apple. Even though this fruit has many big seeds,
it has a sweet and good taste. The fruits have green color
when they are ripe. The skins of the ripe and the unripe
fruits have the same green color.

Suppota (Chickoo). The fruit and the skin have the same
brown color. The variety we have in our home is different
from the usual variety available from the market. They
(available from the market) have a smooth skin.Our fruits
have a good sweet taste.

Plums. This fruits come to our place from the mountain
regions. Now they are getting rarer here.

kovai (koovai) Fruits. These fruits are not consumed by
many. They are not cultivated but grow like a weed plant.
This plant is a vine. They don't have a sweet and good
taste. They grow near our house.

A small hill nearby our place. It is formed out of hard red
rock. In the foreground are tapioca plants. It's roots are
used for making chips, starch and pearls(small balls).

Here the solar eclipse occurred at midday. At
that time it looks like evening and the light was
soft and cool. This is the longest annular solar
eclipse of the millennium.

I have used filter to reduce the light.Near the sun there
was some clouds, at some times hid the sun.

plant. Types of flowers - Yellow and pink. The flowers
have a pleasant smell. Unlike other plants here, it sheds
the leaves in winter. In summer it has full of leaves and

Here it's raining now. So I have captured some
images of rain scenes.
The rain drops, like lenses, produce images of the
objects in the background. So each raindrop
looks different and fascinating to watch.

This rain drop on the plumeria flower, have the
image of the leaves behind it. The big rain drop
on the right side have the color of the flower.

Flowers and Plants - Plumeria Plant, Ixora,Pomegranate and Jasmine

Plumeria Plant.

This plumeria plant has flowers most of the year.
The Flowers have sweet smell.

Ixora Flowers.
A perfect ball like shape. Locals calls them 'iddli flower'!
This flower comes in different shades.I like this type of red
colored flowers. Ixora plants are generally resistant to pests.
They are resistant to mealy bugs.

Pomegranate flower without petals. Even without
petals,it looks beautiful. The pomegranate fruits are
attacked by worms. To prevent this we put cloth coverings
for the unripened fruit.

Jasmine Buds.
The flowers have a good fragrance.
Women use them for hair decoration. We have
three types of Jasmines around our house.

Jasmine Flowers. Another type.

Jasmine plant.

Tips: We use natural fertilizers for the plants. Put some
leaves, grass and weed plants in a shallow pit; Cover
with earth and leave it for three months. Then use this as
fertilizer.

around us. They have a calming effect on us.
when we are stressed out, a visit to the village side
make us refreshed. These Photos are taken from

The Eco Friendly Clock From The Past

This is a 50 years (approximate) old photo of
a clock. The description of the photo says,
it runs by the air; Winding , batteries
or electricity are not necessary for this clock.
It works using the temperature change and the
barometric pressure.

It's name is Atmos.I have never seen a clock
like this and don't know about this type
of clocks.

of the Money Plant.

Money plant's leaves becomes bigger, when they grow higher on
a tree. Money plants are generally resistant to pests. They are
resistant to mealy bugs. They are propagated by cuttings.

Scenario: Someone talks to his friend. He talks and talks without interruption. He continues to speak, as though he is recording his speech for writing a book. The other person seems to be somewhat uneasy and uninterested.But our friend continues his talking.

Thoughts:
We want others have interest in what we are talking about and get satisfaction from the conversation. To get this result, we should consider the following points.

In conversations it's important to give time to express the other persons thoughts about this subject. We may ask some questions; Ask for his opinions. When the other person try to speak, we should listen carefully. We should consider others view points.

Also when we try to explain something, we should make them as clear as possible. Instead of blaming others for not understanding, we may try to think about ways to explain them clearly. By making ourselves clear and also understand the others well, help us to avoid misunderstandings and problems.

when we are in a haste or when our emotions runs high, there is a greater possibility of misunderstandings. If the mater is important one, we should take extra care to know if the other persons understand the matter clearly.

These are inside views of a table clock.This clock
is more than 45 years old and it is still in working
condition.It was easier for me to open the cover of
the clock, by unscrewing the 8 screws.It has double
cover in the back. But it was difficult to reassemble
the parts. It's weight - 600 g

Scenario: Someones emotions gets higher because of some problem, and he said something worse for a small mistake of his child.

Thoughts:
We have many types of emotions. When we are in the grip of emotions, our thinking becomes different from the normal time thinking. At that moment, our minds are clouded by the fogs of emotions and we are not able to see clearly about the situation. Our perceptions and what we do and say are influenced by our emotions much. We may say something worst when the emotions are high.Only after sometime, when the dusts of emotions are settled down, we know the situation clearly and start to regret it.

so a little caution and presence of mind, helps to avoid the suffering felt by ourselves and others. It's also true for the positive emotions. When we are in the high, because of positive emotions, we may fail to notice the negative points of a situation.(Like saying,"I will do anything for you" etc.) By recognizing the problem and analyzing the situation clearly , we can make good decisions.
when we compare the negative emotions as fog, we may compare the the high levels of positive emotions as looking through a colored glass. Both of them may affects our clear vision - clear thinking.

Some time ago we and our relatives went toTiruchengode.
There is a hill in Tiruchengode. Arthanareeswarar Temple
is situated on top of that Hill. It is an ancient temple.This
place is situated 18 Kms from Erode and 32 Kms from
Namakkal. ( South India).
It's ancient name - Thirukodimaadachenkunrur.
Inscriptions are found here from the times of kings Parantaka
Chola, Gangaikonda Chola etc. Here I presented some
photos of that place.

This road take us to the top of the Hill . There are
steps to take us to the top (1200 steps).

When reading something or hearing something, we may think that we have already know this thing. There is a big difference between knowing something and knowing it deeply. Knowing deeply means the impression is recorded strongly in our mind. It makes the difference between enough action or no action, based on that knowledge.

We may read about many important things, but the impression faded out from our mind, after some time. So we should think about them again and again. We maintain a note book or diary to note down important things and look at them periodically. Take notes of this and don't forget this!

But do we use them effectively?

We have get enough knowledge in our work related areas. But we don't have an overall , wider knowledge of our World.Our interests are narrowed down to a few things and we missed much.
